Why would the police want to see my nephew while he is in prison???

Nephew was told on Friday that the police were coming to see him Tuesday @ 2pm. We can work out why they would want to see him. Its the police from the station that he was taken too when originally arrested. He hasnt been in any trouble since he has been in their. His documents are being processed for his tag and he should be home very soon. His solicitor said they dont know whats uts about.

Help

They may want to question him about another crime where he may be a witness or a known associate of the main suspect.

would they question him at the prison or would they take him back to the police station??

They would question him at the prison. It would be a big unnecessary and expensive security risk to take him to a police station.
Did he have any co-defendants involved in his case, it may be they are being investigated and they want statements from your nephew.

It wouldn't be to do with his time inside prison as that would be dealt with by the Governor

Hi, I'm a defence solicitor and will try to answer as I have some experience of this. IT could be that there is some stuff that he did before he went and they want to interview him, and hopefully write it off. It could be that as someone else suggested, he is a witness to something. Its probably nothing to worry about and sounds like he's already got his solicitor on the case, so they will be able to find out (probably only on the day of the interview). I'd be more worried if they wanted to take him out to a police station - implies then that they would be looking at new charges.

tombley his charges were burglary x4 and only him involved. I'm absolutley worried sick, havent slept properly since friday. Phoned the prison and they couldnt tell me anything (didnt really expect them to but I had to try)

bump

Sorry didn't see your earlier bump.
As ladyhelen2 says it could be to do with other charges he didn't ask to be considered while in court last time but they may want to write them off. Sometimes that happens because of DNA evidence.

PANIC OVER

Apparently they was from the re-habilitation service (part of the police) asking if he needed counselling when he gets out and whether he thinks hes gonna re-offend. He was so relieved it was all over he went out to play footabll with some of the other inmates and forgot all about calling my mum so we could all stop worrying.
