Mobile Phone Fraud

When I upgraded my mobile handset recently, as well as renew my contract with Vodafone they told me at the time that they would make available an additional free phone number. I thought nothing of this and never recieved anything from them.....until today when I discovered that thousands of pounds worth of phone calls have been made on this 'additional' phone number which is registered to me - and this has been taken out of my current account along with my normal direct debit.
I feel sick about this, have contacted Vodafone who say that they will hand this over to their fraud department to investigate but in the meantime they will not reverse the direct debit. Am going to my bank this afternoon to organise to have the direct debit reversed (this is within my rights and as per direct debit laws) but unless this is resolved I will ultimately become liable for these phone bills.
I am praying that Vodafone are able to clearly see that the calls made from this additional number were not made by me, and that this sim card must have been stolen. Has anyone else had an kind of similar experience?
Can anyone reassure me that this will be able to be resolved - am feeling really down and heartily sick of this world we live in where dishonesty and thieving are part and parcel of living and everyone has to constantly be on the lookout for fraud and theft at every turn.........Sorry, need to vent!!!

no advice on this just want to wish you luck.

This is an awful thing to happen

Hi MumEve, the calls would have to have been made via a sim card. Vodafone will be able to trace where this sim card is and the location where the calls were made. I would be very surprised if they could not prove this is fraud and make you liable for calls.

Good Luck
