Hey,

I am 33 weeks pregnant and I believe I will be entitled to Universal Tax Credits whilst I am on maternity leave - does anybody know when I am supposed to apply for this?

It doesn't answer my question ANYWHERE, but surely I can't be the first to ask!! Help!! Confused

Its Universal credit. Tax credits are an entirely different thing. Are you going to be a lone parent? Whether you get any Universal credit entitlement depends on what income you have coming in, whether you pay rent etc.

As above, I think you are getting a couple of things confused. Does this help?

Hello,

Yeah I've done the calculator, I know what I am entitled to I just need to know when I can apply, if before the birth or after if you see what I mean?

This depends too much on individual circumstances to answer. If you have already used a benefit checker such as link posted above and are still confused then I suggest visiting citizens advice.

If the calculator says you would be eligible now before the baby is born then apply now. The amount will just increase when you inform them that your baby has been born and you add your child to the claim.
