make sure you submit as much medical evidence to support your mandatory reconsideration as you can.

Can you contact your local welfare rights people? I asked at the local council recently for my dad and they were very helpful.

Daddygirl · 12/06/2018 07:36

Welfare rights is part of our local council services, if you call the council they will be able to point you in the right direction. They can fill out your forms, advise on any other benefits you may be able to claim, and they can help out with tribunals etc. Definitely worth bringing them in.

Hi does anyone no how long it takes to here bout a mantadory requst for esa .been 2 weeks now. Hoping no news is good news 😕

It could be another 2 weeks or so, they might ring you first and then you'll get a letter confirming the decision. If you're still waiting in 2 weeks' time then ring them to see what's going on, sometimes MRs get lost in the DWP 😐

If your MR is rejected, go to your local CAB for help with an appeal. Once the appeal is registered your can ask for your ESA to start being paid again. The appeal could take months. Good luck!

Thanks ping pong bat for your reply .ah hope it hasn't got loss , yeah thanks I'll give them a ring in 2 weeks or so .thsnks I need all the luck .

It's unusual to get a decision changed at MR. At MR the DWP just do a review of the evidence they already have, and usually reject the request. But at appeal you have the opportunity to provide more evidence and present your case in person to a tribunal. Appeals are much more likely to be successful.

Daddygirl · 16/06/2018 18:06

Ah ok thankyou for that .when it does go to tribural do you get esa back or not.😕

Yes, you can get ESA again - once the tribunal has told the DWP that you've appealed.

If you've claimed JSA while you're waiting to hear about your MR, then you'll need to ask the DWP to end your JSA & start paying your ESA again. It's always best to ring them to make sure they start your ESA again. You can then continue to get ESA until your appeal is decided.
