Maternity allowance (Self employed)

Hi all

I have been self employed since October last year and fell pregnant quite soon after.

I have applied for maternity allowance, which offered £27 per week but with the possiblity that this could increase if I pay NI contributions (a mere £37) quickly.

In my “job” I earn roughly £220 per week excluding school holidays. Does anyone know how much I will be eligible for please? Just trying to plan ahead and budget with hubby.

Thank you

If you search maternity allowance on gov.uk there’s a calculator that will show what you can get. You need to put in details of household income and any other benefits but it’s quite easy to use.
