Transferring cash between banks?

Ok X amount was paid in cash into bank A in branch, to be transferred to bank B.

Shouldn't take more than a few hours should it?

My transfers are generally between 5 mins and 2-3 hrs depending on which banks it goes from and to.
After 4pm (I think) it's then next day clearance, sometimes.

Oooh that's really annoying, it was made 10.30am.

Thanks anyway! I thought it was usually much quicker

Called into bank this morning, they'd had a technical blip. Sorted now.

cash should be within an hour under FPS rules
