Bank Charges - Complicated question

Before any of you jump on my back, we lost our business due to an unscrupulous customer that long-firmed us into doing 8 months work and us living off of our overdraft loans etc. When the day for payment came (£98k) they paid themselves, liquidated and we didnt get a penny.

So - we now have an account with Natwest that has been past onto a debt collection agency. Our overdraft was for £2500, over half of this is bank charges. We were paying off 3100 a month at the time, but they decided it wasnt enough and so shut our account and passed it on. Can we still claim for these charges?

We had a similar thing with Barclays, but my own account (which I use for child benefit to go into) is now with the Woolwich who are about to Morph into Barclays...can i claim from them? i dont want to lose my Woolwich account.

Similar thing with Abbey National. Its the only joint account we have - will they close it?

Dh has just been made redundant and we really are due some good news for once.
