Hi, I'd like to set up a savings account for my children, could anyone recommend any? I don't plan on using the money but would like to see it build up for their future. They have about £1000 so far.

Do you want to save regularly? My kids have the Halifax regular saver which was the best at the time we took it out but you do need to save at least £10 pm

Ok thanks I'll look into that. I put money in every month and birthday/ Christmas money.

Have you thought about a trust fund such as with Foreign & Colonial? My DC has child fund with them and it's paid out approx 15 % interest over the last 8 years. It's based on shares so more risk than the high street but reduced risk as it's a long term investment. Started out with £750 nd have paid 75 a month in and it's currently worth more than 10k. Far better than anything on the high street.

Child trust funds can't be opened anymore. They've been replaced with the Junior ISAs

Santander 123 mini has a decent interest rate

Although you'd need to have a current account with them too
