Or just a standard letter.

We sent a letter claiming alot of money for overcharges etc, and was expecting a "Go away" (in the nicest terms!!), but we have recieved a letter stating that it is being looked into, and will tke a few weeks to hear anything back?

Is this good news, or just a standard letter?)

Thanks

RTKangaMummy · 18/05/2007 19:45

it is a stalling letter to waste time send the 2nd letter from martin

LilyLoo · 19/05/2007 10:19

i got the four weeks one but it did say they legally had 8 weeks so when the four weeks was nearly up got another letter saying they were still looking into it and it would be another four weeks.
We stiil waiting been about 6 weeks alltogether now

jofeb04 · 19/05/2007 10:26

You're welcome

Please do NOT wait just print off the 2nd letter and make it say not a reasonable respaonse etc.

LilyLoo · 19/05/2007 15:15

Right Kanga so is this just delaying tactics then ? I suppose i am following what they say Where can i get second letter ? Sorry dp has dealt with it up to now.
So even thoguh they haven't reused to pay up i should still push them for a decision ?

RTKangaMummy · 19/05/2007 15:26

Yes get it off martin's site

moneysavingexpert.com

Just send it off they have 14 days to reply

LilyLoo · 19/05/2007 15:28

ok will do thanks

foxybrown · 19/05/2007 15:29

I got all my money back from Barclays (not with interest).

I had one of those letters, they got back to me about 2 weeks later and had already credited my account.

So I'd say you'll probably be OK. Give them some time to sort it out, according to todays paper they are busy with reclaiming charges!

Good luck.

Got £660 back from Barclays along with a letter telling us that was ll they would pay and to bugger off and not try and claim again (obviously in more professional 'bank'speak). I didn't mind because I only claimed for £620

Flumpybumpy · 20/05/2007 12:59

lulabelle - give me your email and I will forward you teh letters and address that I used for Barclays.

lula just emailed you x

fortyplus · 20/05/2007 13:27

olleague of mine bounced into work on Friday saying that she had just got a cheque in the post for £2000 having told her bank that she thought the charges were unreasonable - apparently the bank said that they thought they were reasonable, but as she was such a loyal customer they would reimburse them anyway!

noddyholder · 20/05/2007 13:27

I wrote a very basic letter to Barclays saying that I had had charges over the years etc etc I had no records or anything and they sent me £120!I have never had a charge in my life so they do have standard letters and payouts for small amounts like me where I don't think they even check

Moomin · 20/05/2007 13:34

lulbelle - don't send back your statements - put all the charges into an Excel file and attach this to the letter. If you're further down the road and you're claiming interest use the charges calculator on the Martyn Lewis site, copy and paste it to your own files and send this.

mamatres · 20/05/2007 13:35
