Trying to work out what rewards are the best. It seems this is better that some that give points to convert to amazon etc...

any thoughts?

Who's giving 1% cashback these days? Is it an Amex card?

1% cashback is indeed excellent and amongst the best available. I currently have a Barclaycard that pays 0.5% and an M&S card that pays 1% in M&S and not much elsewhere and I didn't think I could do much better, given that I CBA using 2 cards for the places that don't accept Amex and aren't bothered about air miles etc as I don't understand them and don't travel long haul or on BA because they don't really fly to where I want to go.

Points that convert at a rate of 1% are also good and are as good as cash if they are for a shop you use enough to spend the cashback without buying something for the sake of it. So if you shop in Amazon, a card that pays in Amazon points would be good. I like my M&S card because I do buy food and some clothes there so don't struggle to spend the few quid of vouchers they send me every 3 months.

Does it give you 1% on all spends with no limits? If so that’s fantastic. Most are only 1% on certain things or it reduces to 0.5% after you’ve spent a certain amount.

Where can you get a 1% one that converts to Amazon vouchers that would also be really useful to have as a combination.

Yes its a 1% on Amex cash back card.

I have an AMEX. They usually have an introductory offer. Despite reducing their cashback amount recently, they are still one of the best. I also have a Santander 123 for 2% at department stores and 3% on petrol/diesel.

delilahbucket · 21/05/2018 22:44

Forgot to add, remember that AMEX is a charge card and has to be paid in full every month.

newmumwithquestions · 21/05/2018 22:48

It’s an amazing deal. But check:

  • Is it payable on all types of spending
  • What is the card annual fee
  • Are there limits on the monthly/annual cash back paid
ShinyShooney · 21/05/2018 22:52

Amex do different types of card, mine is definitely not a charge card delilah.

I have the cash back credit card. I get 1% back on everything. There are very few places the don't accept it- only my beautician in my normal life then the odd small shop if i am away from home.

I got the everyday platinum with the offer of 5% on the first £2k. Then it was 0.5% but now up 1% as I've spent over £5k. I know you can pay for the 1% from the start but I didn't want to do that.

Its been very good for me- I have over £200 cash back that Ive earn in the last 8 months or so. Their cusomter service has been excellent and the website is very easy to use

What about a 1% card that gives amazon points and is a master or visa? Anyone know of one?
