Joint property owners -how to split the share

Hi

My partner and I are in the process of buying our first property. We have been together 10+ years, have children but are unmarried.

I am putting in the lions share of the deposit, 35k and we will then put in some each for stamp duty l, solicitors etc.

I've recently gone back to work just part time after having our youngest so he would be paying the majority of the mortgage.

Obviously I'm not planning on anything going wrong but I'm not naive either.

What is the fairest option if we do split?

Looking for an unbiased view from the outside, I don't want to lose my 35k but I don't want to be unfair either.

Thank you all

Why would you split? It's usual to be joint tenants, unless you actually want to be tenants in common?

Why would you split?

Why wouldn’t they? It’s a very common scenario.
