Can you recommend a good bank? Is the Halifax any good?

Hi, just spotted another thread on banks, and we've been talking about getting a joint account so that I can keep an eye on our finances (as currently he doesn't tell me what's going on moneywise, so I'll assume we have lots of dosh until halfway through the month he'll wail "Oh no, we've only got £20!") and we can both pay bills/keep on top of things.

We currently have seperate accounts with HSBC and Barclays. HSBC are SO unhelpful and Barclays don't seem to be open any time dp needs to call, plus their online banking system is hard to navigate.

So can you recommend a good bank? i.e who has been helpful, who has low charges for going overdrawn etc

Is the Halifax as good as they make out i.e UK callcentres etc?

Thanks!

HSBC totally racist bank and read the stories about what they have done in the US A and are doing in the UK... it is called legallised robbery, they steal money from whoever they want and target... accounts are blocked. money disappears and one can never do anythying about it. want to know who the worst banks are, go to the high court and listen in all the hearings of peoples who have had their money stolen or homes from the banks, from under them. they are all crooks.

Some banks offer £100 cash back if you change to them. Look on money saving expert web site under banking. Some current accounts don't customers any interest, so check this too before moving banks. Santander give interest and cash back, but charge £5 a month to have the account. Do your research first
