Which Broadband?

Just moved previously I used Talktalk and found customer service shocking. Looking for a new provider and I have not a clue what I should be looking for? Do I go for fastest speed and no idea what a good speed is? I have 2 teenage sons who enjoy gaming and I use the internet quite a lot. Read good reviews regarding Plusnet. However when I entered my details online it said I could get an estimate speed between 3 - 7 mb which is which my son said was not very much.
Also noticed the house has a virgin box in the wall, would that be all that's needed to set up and would this mean I need to stick with Virgin? Thanks to anyone who responds.

3-7 mb is horrendous. Barely enough for 1 person to stream video. Definitely not enough for a household with 2 teenagers.

In my experience if your street has the correct fibre optic cabling then Virgin is definitely the best.
Re the Virgin set up you would need to call them to confirm, but I imagine they would send a n engineer round to get you set up.

Thank you, do you have any idea of what mb I should be looking for?

I posted this on another thread

I've been with The Phone Co-op for a couple of years. Superfast bband from £28 pm (add call package). Minimum guaranteed speed 35.0Mbps. Very good customer service & tech support which counts for a lot given the crap we've had from other companies.

If you can get fibre with virgin go for it

50 mb is there normal speed and it’s £35 per month

No phone line needed so no land line bill
So just use mobile

Thanks all.
I went with Virgin and there seems to be a box at the property. Found an offer which expires tonight, 100mb for £20.00 a month I think for a 12 month contract. Shoots up to£45.00 after this, but I will cancel then.
