Moving home dilemma

Hi all, advice needed. I have given notice on my tenancy, awful landlord, lots of hassles and rising damp. Having already moved away from the area I grew up in (fresh start), I find myself torn as to my next move As a single Mum, my options are: stay in the area that I'm in, with very high rent and not much spare income at the end of the month left to do anything, or move out of the area by a few miles to save huge amounts on rent? I currently live in a large village with a lot happening, my child's school, and it's a nice area. If i move within 3 miles I can save £175 a month on rent to a smaller property, commute to school and work every day (work nearer to new home address, but would have to do a round trip twice every day to do the school/work - approx 40 mins each trip). I do not intend to move my child's school as they are thriving in their school, and have made lots of friends, plus, for personal.reasons this is my 10 year olds 3rd school and I do not intend causing any further stress). This would mean much more money to do things at weekends, and is the difference between a holiday each year. If i stay, I have less money to live on and less to do anything with, but benefit from a shorter commute (20 mins each way) as it's just school then work, if I move out of the area, it's more money but a longer commute (not massive mind); new area (not quite as nice, but not bad), and another new start. Help!! Confused
