Should I appeal parking ticket?

I was in a council car park this morning so have to reply/pay this ticket (not private land). I was at the ticket machine thing and decided to pay by calling a number as I didn’t have any change. I made a mistake the first time when punching in the last three digits of my card at the back of it so pressed the first two numbers and then the ring off button instead of the 0 (duuurr!!) so I had to call back. I was in the middle of the call when I looked over to my car and the traffic warden was already taking pictures of it to my horror. Shock. So now I have penalty ticket issued just ONE minute before my registered start time of paid parking. Is it worth going through all the hassle of appealing or should I just pay it? I’m pretty miffed at the speed of the traffic warden and wonder how he didn’t see me standing at the ticket machine but guess he was only going his job...Confused. It was like he was waiting for me to get out of my car because he must had to check my registration first etc surely? Anyway what do you think? So I have a chance?

What did you say to the traffic warden?

Falconhoof1 · 31/03/2018 17:32

I think you'd definitely win that appeal.

Pinkprincess1978 · 31/03/2018 17:33

Yes appeal! The fact it is one minute before you bought your ticket proves you were in the process of buying ticket when the warden got you. You could have been at the machine in a queue when they got you too.

Did you not run over to show them you were in the process of buying it?

GnotherGnu · 31/03/2018 17:34

Yes, it's definitely worth appealing this one, and not really that much hassle.

ChishandFips33 · 31/03/2018 17:38

I'd appeal
Can you pull up your call history to show you were ringing them at the time you were being fined

TERFragetteCity · 31/03/2018 17:41

I appeal everything. But this one for sure.

I didn’t say anything to the traffic warden, I was in the middle of the call and it then said it didn’t recognise the three security digits so I panicked even more as I could see him and had to enter them really carefully because I was scared I’d make another mistake . By that time he was taking photos and it was across the other side of the car park.

Thanks all for replying.
I’ll send a screenshot of time stamp of my phone calls to them to show I tried to call even before I got the ticket and hope that works. I just feel so stupid. Next time have to stand guard next to the car, warning to us all ConfusedGrin
