Entitlement Help

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help with my situation.

I am a single parent with a 2 1/2 year old and had been working on a temporary contract for 2 yearsuntil it ended 3 weeks ago. Temp staff were no longer required.

I currently receive working and child tax credits along with child benefit.

I was hoping to have started another contract by now but it has been delayed until next week or longer. I have an interview for a permanent post on Tuesday and if i get it the start date will not be for another few weeks.

I will have to contact tax credits on Monday but i do not know how am going to manage financially as once the payments stop i will not be able to afford to keep her nursery and if i take her out i will lose her place which means i will not have any childcare in place in order to work. There is a waiting list for the nursery so they would not be able to keep her place open.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Apply for income support or universal credit if your area has that.

It's not worth risking switching to UC for one week of no money ! It would take you 5 weeks of waiting to get any money from UC and your child tax credits would stop instantly.
You could apply for Income support.

Check your award letter but I'm pretty sure you need to report changes within 4 weeks. IF that's the case then hopefully you'll have a new job before then.

I think you get a 4 week run on of working tax credits.
