Maternity Allowance

Hi,

Is the amount of maternity allowance payment you qualify for effected if you are married to a self employed partner?

I am married to self employed partner, but have never worked for him in any capacity as I have my own job.

In theory I should qualify for full weekly MA amount but have read various different/conflicting things.

Thanks in advance if you could shed any light!

Are you self-employed or employed? Then that will be the basis of the calculation.

The self-employed husband thing is about women doing unpaid work for their spouse rather than earning own money.

If he has a ltd company he is not self employed.

Either way, it’s your earnings that matter, not his.
