hi all, husband has walked out after 30yrs of being together and is not coming back, ive range tax credits and they have stopped our joint claim and ive had to put in a single claim which could take up to three weeks. I am right in thinking that as i have 3 under 18 children and 1 son at college aged 18 that i claim tax credits not universal credit,,,, i know it sounds silly but i just need reassurance as i suffer from anxiety thank you any help would be gratefully received

Sorry to hear hopefully someone better at offering words of comfort will come along. Can I recommend entitledto calculate online for advise on finances

I’m sorry you are going through this Thanks I don’t know much about benefits, but that online calculator suggested by Moominfan will help you find out what you should be claiming.

Other than that, is there any money in joint accounts, pension, any investments? While he has walked away physically and emotionally, he can’t just walk away financially. So get some legal advice.

Brew take care.
