How much has the snow cost you?

There has been no joy in the snow and subsequent snow days for us Sad

DH is self employed and not been able to get to work (so won’t get paid) and DS is Home from school and so heating and lights etc have had to be on whereas usually in the day I keep as low as possible to save money. Also missed out on him having free school meals and have had to use food I had planned for evenings for lunch etc. Really stressful when on a super tight budget like we are! Has the snow cost anyone else a small fortune?

Skidded off the road this morning to avoid a man in front who had taken a snowy hill in too high a gear and started to roll his car backwards. Recovery fee from ditch = £70. Ended up having to work from home today and probably tomorrow so that's two days of the heating on, plus several Creme Eggs that I had stashed away.

@bimbobaggins then you were doing her a favour really :)

The extra heating cost has been the main issue. It’s been on high non-stop just to try to get the place at a reasonably habitable temperature. Even with curtains and draught excluders there’s a wicked gale rattling around my ground floor rooms.

I haven't had to drive to and from nursery and work for four days. I'm still paid but I still have to pay for the 4 days of missed nursery. Had to feed my daughter breakfast and lunch. I've stuffed my face with lots of food and had the heating on a lot. So probably only lost a little overall.

I’ve had money taken out of my ParentPay account for 6 school dinners that were not cooked and my dc didn’t eat!

Self employed, cost me about £200.
