Is it illegal for me not to wear a seatbelt if one isn't fitted?

dh, dd and myself would like to go to the zoo on Sunday. Only trouble is that our car is at the garage having £800 worth of work done on it , so we have a very small MG BGT to use.

dh would drive, dd would go in her car seat in the passenger seat, there is an 'occasional seat' in the back where I could squash myself into, but no seatbelts for that are fitted.

Is it illegal or legal for me to sit in the back without a seat belt on when the car is too old to have them fitted?

see higway code link for seat belt use . looks like you will be OK.

otherwise public transport, or wait a few weeks...

It's legal ATM but soon to be illegal, I remember reading from a link similar to Wotsaname's.
