Tax credits..'are you a couple' letter?

I returned home last night to a letter from tax credits. It basically says that I'm claiming as a single person (which I am) but should I be doing so as a couple?

The 'rules' to being a couple are:

If you are married
Share money
If your friends and family see you as a couple

I am with someone and I see him twice a week, we don't share funds (I wish we did then I wouldn't have to claim) but yes my friends and family know I have a partner?

Has anyone else had this letter? I worry about stuff like this even though I'm not doing anything wrong it's the first time I've had anything like this and wonder why I've got it?

A post the other day showed lots of people have got the letter!! Just a generic reminder to update circumstances it was assumed.

Do you live together? If not don't worry, sounds like a reminder

You aren't a couple for financial reasons. That would only be if you lived together, shared bills etc.

Lots of people have been sent this letter. As other have said it's just a reminder . if it doesn't apply to you then don't worry about it. It's more aimed at those who have a partner staying over almost every night yet claims to 'officially ' live at his mams round the corner in order to maximise benefits . If your partner pays mortgage/ rent elsewhere then there's no need to worry.

Hi, thanks for the replies.
No he lives quite a way from me so not worrying but just never seen the letter before, my ex is doing some stupid stuff at the moment and wondered if it was him. Thanks
