Moving after a year of moving to new house in new area- moving back - worried about mortgage

We moved 18 months ago from an affluent city to Cornwall. I am from Cornwall.
The reason we had to move is because we got into money difficulties and couldn’t pay the mortgage.
We rented down here and bought a house just over a year ago . It was a real struggle to get the mortgage.
The trouble is nobody likes it here and we want to move back. We are worried about not getting a mortgage for a suitable house.
Should we just suck it up and stay here or should we move back to where we were happy , had friends and a life and rent . Would we be stupid to do that
My husband is in mid 40s

Sorry to hear this. Why is everybody not happy? I do think it takes longer than we think to settle in a new place.

Could you rent out the house you have bought and rent yourselves back where you used to live?

Thank you for your reply . We lived there for 20 years - all my friends and my life is there . My daughter is 10 and she has really struggled down here .
We all miss city living .
It’s really beautiful but we feel like we are on holiday and will be going home soon
We can’t rent this house out as it’s a new build on help to buy .
I really don’t want to rent again
