In the post came a cheque in an envelope without a covering letter

I opened the envelope by mistake cos it was just a regular envelope and it never occured to me to read the address

And it was a cheque for over £110,000 without a covering note

Anyway we have sealed it back up again and reposted it.

It was for a business in our town

Would you be tempted to cash a cheque that wasn't for you?????

Obviously it would be illegal but this was the largest amount I have ever seen written on a regular cheque.

WHAT HAVE YOU HAD DELIVERED TO YOUR HOUSE??????

DID YOU KEEP IT????

OR DID YOU REPOST IT???

?

Well, I had a cheque as well. But it was for £70, not quite up to your standards! I RTS'd it.

paddingtonbear1 · 29/04/2007 16:30

no cheques here...
not had that much at all apart from junk mail and the odd xmas card. which we did deliver to the right address, they didn't look exactly thrilled I must say!!

Not me but my Mum found a bag of second-hand bras in her porch that someone had delivered to the wrong house -not exactly in the same league as a cheque for £110,000 is it?!

She never found out who they were meant for.

We did get a catalogue for some pretty way out porn. It was addressed to our old address but not to either our names or the new owner's names. The postman does a kind of informal redirect as we only live around the corner and its a small village. I think he decided that the name on the envelope was closer to ours than the new people.

These things come every 6 months or so and have been an eye opener for both dh and and myself! Problem is that we actually believe that they are for the new owners under a pseudonym but don't have the guts to push it back through their letter box in case we are wrong and they wonder wtf we are doing!!!

Everyone laughs at this when i tell them, including me

In my old flat i once got a catalogue sent address to Ms Chubby (i am a size 18/20) sprayed my cup of tea all over the place! pmsl

Cor, I wish someone would send me £110,000. I thought when I saw the thread title that it was going to be one of those "you have won $354678.90 on the Venezualan lottery. please send a $50 processing fee for us to expedite your winnings"

I have never received anything exciting but we did have a postman stealing our mail for 6 months (despite repeated complaints). Eventually they tracked him down and some of the mail back. 6 months worth of grubby, opened birthday cards etc delivered in a carrier bag, minus all the cash.

Half a trampoline.

(We'd already had a whole trampoline delivered, but they kept on delivering!)

We had a vibrator delivered by mistake - we lived at 114 & it was addressed to 14. Wished I was brave enough to knock on the door & say "I think this might be yours" but I wussed out & left the box outside the door when it was dark

On Saturday morning we had a garden shed delivered to us instead of inlaws.

DP had ordered and paid for it with his card as MIL does not like giving her card details over the net.

DP had put their address as the delivery address, but the silly idiots sent it to the billing address. Luckily my inlaws only live a mile away, so we sent the driver round there.

my bank accidently credited my account by £30,000. Blimey the trouble it took for them to believe me it wasn't mine makes me think it easier if I'd of kept it.

hayes · 30/04/2007 18:52

a letter from sheriff officers for my dp ex sent to our address for her current year council tax for her own house. They been apart for 8 years she has never lived at this address god knows how that happened
