Thread 34 may be no more;
Thread 35 is quite alive.

Let's make sure it stays that way.

This thread is here to expose the garageful of lies pedalled by multi level marketing (network marketing) schemes, i.e outrageous health claims, unlimited wealth and residual earnings, to name but a few.

Well said Toobusy. No doubt burglars would say that their activities benefit criminal lawyers so it's a win-win situation. Grin

How many garages of aloe would they break into?

If only they knew how much criminal lawyers actually earn ....

Toobusytowee · 06/02/2018 23:01

Exactly BS. So many people benefit. The burglar makes money, the fence makes money, the burglar’s family benefit and can have nice Christmas peresents and holidays, the police and lawyers get jobs to do, the burgled people get their stuff back through insurance, insurance companies do well. So many good things can come from the ‘profession’ of burgling. No one gets hurt so it’s ok.

But it’s not ok. It’s wrong to steal. By concentrating on tiny details such as who likes MLM products, we are being distracted from the bigger issue that MLMS ARE SCAMS.

New to this having spent my evening reading through ellebeau's younique blog. I'm 23 and quite surprised that a uni friend of mine has become a bot and started flogging Juice Plus pills on facebook under the guise of being a health and wellness coach. Apparently if you double your dose colds magically disappear within 12 hours!

BSintolerant · 07/02/2018 00:03

I see the topic of MLM has reared its ugly head in AIBU earlier on. The OP who refused to buy some overpriced makeup from her friend has been dumped by alleged friend.

My money's on poonique!

Just finished reading this entire thread, and want to thank you all for continuing the anti-MLM movement. I remember these threads starting way back when I had my eldest but stopped visiting eventually so it's fabulous to see that you're still fighting against this 'not illegal, but surely not legal either' scam.

cozietoesie · 07/02/2018 01:53

I read that AIBU thread, BS. Smile

Spongebobette · 07/02/2018 09:21

Link please?

MumBlog4 · 07/02/2018 09:35

I also skimmed through the AIBU thread and tried to post a link here but I'm shocking with technology .... knew it was poonique as soon as she mentioned make up.

Interesting (mlm sceptical) podcast.

Sean1984 · 08/02/2018 18:35

DropItLikeASquat · 08/02/2018 19:10

Is Avon a MLM? are there some that are okay and some to totally avoid or are they all bad??? I was going to try this for some extra income but have been totally put off from what I have read on some blogs and in he media.

Mielabel · 08/02/2018 21:15

I think the business model itself is flawed.

If anyone wants to earn extra income, replace their income or start something new, you can always look into starting a legitimate business. Yes, it can be difficult, knowing what to choose and making it work, but compared to MLM it's a breeze. I am a sole trader earning decent part time income ontop of my day job, it's far more than I ever learnt in MLM, more stable and less stressful, and I'm not even a success story who can quit my job for it like lots of full time businesswomen out there.

Toobusytowee · 08/02/2018 22:31

I came across this Australian comedy sketch about MLMs. It’s very enterraining.

JaniceBattersby · 08/02/2018 22:37

Yes DropOt, Avon is an MLM. You’re never going to make decent money on it. After allmthe traipsing round dropping catalogues, picking them up again, sorting the orders, collecting the money, you’ll be left with pennies. You’d be much better off trying to find a few hours a week in a pub. At least then you’re guaranteed to get paid.

JaniceBattersby · 08/02/2018 22:37

Sorry, I meant DropIt

BSintolerant · 09/02/2018 01:48

The Federal Trade Comission has obtained a court order halting a business coaching scheme. They were making unsubstantiated claims about high earnings.

Bots beware: the net is closing in on you.

Paragraph five shows just how pyramid-shaped this alleged scheme is:

^Defendants’ program consists of a series of tiered membership levels,
each with a membership fee higher than the last. Defendants pay a consumer only when the consumer recruits new consumers to join the program, through commissions on the new consumers’ membership fees. Although Defendants’ program ostensibly provides business coaching that will help members build a successful business, the goal of that “coaching” is to persuade the member to purchase a higher membership tier.^

The US courts also have jurisdiction over the UK entities. God bless America.

Wig’n’Sleaze’s “new opportunity” is the MLM I mentioned above, just in case any of you were wondering. So far 120 have signed up.

SSDGM · 09/02/2018 03:52

... And Brokebot is suddenly a travel agent?

Whiterangey · 09/02/2018 04:22

Sleaze and Wig have been called out on messages they have posted. People claiming they are broke, they are scammers, and they are lying.

The people saying those type of things are obviously not leaders.

SSDGM · 09/02/2018 08:34

Just seen that, Whiterangey . Clearly wig is talking about a different crypto currency with the exact same name that is shitting money and not the one that man showed actual evidence of that had crashed.

Please don’t let Brokebot be a travel agent. Please. He’s going to make a complete fool of himself. I can’t watch.

Spongebobette · 09/02/2018 09:38

Oh that’s a great video @toobusy!

Should be sent to anyone thinking of throwing away their money by buying a ‘business in a box’

Mind you, I can hear the response already
‘MY MLM is different! It has ETHICS etc etc etc’
