Thread 34 may be no more;
Thread 35 is quite alive.

Let's make sure it stays that way.

This thread is here to expose the garageful of lies pedalled by multi level marketing (network marketing) schemes, i.e outrageous health claims, unlimited wealth and residual earnings, to name but a few.

You are quite right flumper 😓 I know it’s wrong of me but it winds me up how they pretend to have these perfect lives and when you know all’s not as it seems it’s tempting to stick the knife in.

Flumpernickel · 25/01/2018 15:01

I know, I understand the frustration but its a sure fire way to get the thread pulled, and quite honestly, it has zero connection with the mlm shit. Kids are a mn utter no go in my opinion, I think you should request to have that post pulled Smile

Christmastree43 · 25/01/2018 15:10

Have done flumper and have had an email from MN confirming it will be removed. Stick the knife in is the wrong expression anyway - what I meant was that these people make out that their amazing envy inducing life is down to their relationship with e.g. FLP so when you know it’s not all it seems... it’s tempting to want to let others know. I do apologise though as can see it was inappropriate. Rise above Halo

Flumpernickel · 25/01/2018 15:12

I have asked for mine referencing the post to also be removed Wink

I totally get it, it does really frustrate when there is this constant ideological lifestyle promoted and it is all smoke and mirrors!

Smoke clears and mirrors can be cleaned...

Just catching up with everyone. Hope all is well with the anti mlm movement. I have to actually put a few hours in Tuesday to Friday otherwise I'll be more skint than a network marketer Wink but in other news I've been prospected by a Poonique rep this week. Booked in with me for her brow wax and then started to compliment me on my amazing skin (it's not) and how well id done my make up (im not good at make up) ..... I literally knew what was coming and while her tint took I had a quick facey b stalk and lo and behold she's bloody #bossbabe #lovemybizness and more emojis than I could manage........

So as I'm taking off her tint and prepping for the wax I asked her what she did for a job..... I knew what I was doing but quite frankly needed the giggle.....

Oh hun I was just about to say you'd be amaaaaaaazing at what I do....

Me, oh Really? I'm quite busy though what do you do?

Oh babes I run my own beauty based bizniss and you would be perfect with your glam salon and you could run my products along side what you already do ........

It got much worse. She will not be back for a repeat appointment. I've sent her a message and a link to Elle Beaus blog.... off you go dear Hmm

GoldenKelpie · 25/01/2018 18:40

"I'll be more skint than a network marketer"

I'm pinching that, Mumblog!

No one has ever said I have lovely skin I'd be great in their "bizniz", I guess that that's the pro of being ugly and old lol.

Just like to say generally, I am glad the previous thread was pulled, it was just what we needed to refresh the anti-MLM message. Thanks flump and christmas for pulling your comments and bringing the thread back to what is really important, being a place for people to come and read real experiences, get support and advice, and have a laugh at the same time.

GoldenKelpie · 25/01/2018 18:58

These bots are extremely stressed most of the time attempting to make money and going out of their comfort zone to do it. Having to deliberately lie or manipulate others and spend every waking moment trying to sign up a downline or sell "the dream" (the lie) to anyone who will listen. What must that do to you, emotionally and mentally? Their desperation is horrible to witness and they will sometimes do or say things that are wholly inappropriate, or exploit their children.

At the bottom of all this carnage, most bots will believe that they are not trying hard enough, attending enough success days or training, reading the books, immersing themselves in positive thought sessions. They'll be encouraged to strive for success for "a bit longer" because success is round the corner. The momentum has to keep going, the hamster has to keep scurrying round the wheel. At what point do they stop and think "WTAF am I doing?"

When their marriage or relationship is broken? When the money runs out? When they lose their friends completely? When they can't physically lift their head off the pillow?

Maybe when they begin to delve into the "forbidden" websites and a seed is planted that begins to grow. Once you see you can't unsee and then comes the growing horrific realisation that you have been used.

MLM is no respecter of anyone, whether rich or poor, young or old, male or female. It is a business model that exploits virtually EVERYONE.

Lets continue to target our utter hatred and revulsion to the business model, shine an uncompromising light on its insidious ways, share our (horror) stories, and be a supportive environment for bots who have been awakened by the harsh reality of MLM, who have been affected by it personally, and who need a safe and anonymous place to offload.

Spongebobette · 25/01/2018 19:01

Very well said @Goldenkelpie

Couldn’t agree more. These threads are incredibly helpful to anyone who happens to find them and needs to know about the reality of MLMs

Shine a light on the lies and deception, show the truth.

Spongebobette · 25/01/2018 19:29

@mumblog4

I would not be surprised if the Poonique bot made an appointment specially to try to recruit you

ReformedBot · 25/01/2018 21:19

Once you see, you can't unsee

It's true. I was tempted when the manager qualification status changed this month. I have a huge pipeline of people I could follow up and probably get my 'biz' going again bit you know what? I realised I just can't face that life again. You are literally in the most toxic environment - you just don't realise it!

CurlsandCurves · 25/01/2018 21:56

@Reformed, you really don’t need to go back there again. Well done on staying strong.

Just shows the massive pull of these things. So many times I had a ‘fresh start’. This is it, this time I’ll do it, I’m on fire, no one can stop me. But...

When your friends and family have heard it all before, smile and nod as once again, find a new way to politely decline....

Spongebobette · 25/01/2018 22:02

You can do SO much good, helping people who read your story on here

Whiterangey · 25/01/2018 22:38

@Mumblog4 Her brows will be all over her facebook page and she will be telling everyone how they are down to some Poonique brow crap.

CheekySmile · 26/01/2018 00:56

Just a reminder of the petition to help increase transparency in the MLM world. Please sign and share if you can.

Whiterangey · 26/01/2018 02:50

@Reformedbot Well done for resisting. It's for the best, otherwise you would be ReformedReformedbot and that would be a bit of a mouthful.

You are doing so much good telling your story.

It is attractive, when you see the houses and the cars.

You don't see the huge mortgages and the car payments though. Some of those who bought dream homes and dream cars are likely awake half the night worrying about how long they will be able to keep it up for. One bad bonus cheque or more of their downline going and you can't afford the mortgage or car payment.

Some of the bots could easily find themselves having to remember which credit card has money on it because they have maxed out their credit keeping up appearances while finding their income and bonuses have dropped.

Just like those further down the line have to do in order to buy product, except on a smaller scale but still with the same, if not worse, impact.

This is from the link that is in the petition

"Percent of MLM participants who lost money 99.7 %
Average annual income of MLM participants who generate more than $1 $5,000"

rayofhope2 · 26/01/2018 07:36

I've just read an article where Gaz (from geordie shore) girlfriend has given birth 10 days ago. She is back to her pre pregnancy weight in 10 days and is claiming this has been helped by them teaming up with Herbalife. She was petit in the first place so I'm sure she just lost it all from giving birth.

She has something like 500,000 followers, with loads asking questions about how she's lost all the weight.

How many people are going to be sucked into Herbalife because of this?

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 26/01/2018 08:18

Do you know just one person who might need an extra £200-£500 per month working from home around their current commitments?

Comment below and I can send you a bit more info.

Please SHARE THIS POST and I will reward you with a hand sanitiser or Aloe lips

If a new team member joins me as a result of your post I will reward you with £50.

A great illustration of the hidden costs.

This reeks of desperation.

acatcalledjohn · 26/01/2018 08:41

That's a shame @rayofhope2. When The Great Run cancelled their deal were Herbalife after a major backlash I'd hoped it would be the end of them. Sadly though the Geordie Shore cast have a different target audience and this will sadly, but likely, cause some growth.

Which is a shame.

This whole advertising world is just one big sham though, isn't it. Like the Proactiv Plus advert with the blonde girl from Hollyoaks. No honey, your skin isn't blemish free thanks to Proactive. Try growing up, good make up and a spot of airbrushing.

By the way, isn't Proactiv a product by American MLM Rodan & Fields?

About Proactiv - I think it is the first product range created by the people (doctors?) who have since moved on to set up Rodan & Fields which is definitely an MLM. I don't think Proactiv itself is though.

I have several US-based friends who are heavily into selling R&F, and they refer frequently to Proactiv.

Several of these friends are low level within the pyramid, with small/non-existant teams. However one has created a team of hundreds in 12 months and is fully into the free holidays/cars etc etc. I suspect that she is genuinely earning good money and these perks, but I also suspect that her costs are very high too - she always seems to be sending Kate Spade handbags, jewellery, spa days etc to her team, and it must cost a fortune.

The other element of R&F that I find disturbing is the constant referencing to it being a gift from God, part of God's plan etc etc...... Makes me very uncomfortable.

cozietoesie · 26/01/2018 13:27

Television exposure can be a double-edged sword, though, acat. Smile

Whiterangey · 26/01/2018 13:31

Religion is a strong tie in with some US MLM's, in the US, it doesn't happen here.

Mary Kay is heavily faith based, one of their sayings is something like 'God first, family second, Mary Kay third'.
