Student Loans- Written Off

Just in case anyone is interested, I took out the 'old style' student loan in 1992/3 and have never earned enough to start paying it off (thresholds were set higher than they are now) Got a letter out of the blue today telling me that as my loans are now 25 years old they have been written off!
I am just posting as I know there are sometimes posts asking about this. I suppose we are now getting to the write off period for the first round of loans so more people will probably find themselves getting the same letter.

I got my write off letter back in November after 25 years.

That's interesting, I remember mine stating that they would be written off when I turned 50 (also never made it above the threshold). I assumed I'd probably have to contact them rather than them doing it pro-actively, so that's good news.
