Do some work self employed, one of the companies I work for pays by bacs, the last one which should have gone in at xmas has gone missing. Checked with the company and it's cleared at their end but not shown up on my account. Checked with my bank and it can take up to six weeks to sort out and it has to be done by the sending parties bank. It's over a £1000 and although we can manage without it it will be tight, anybody got ang experience and how long did it take to sort out?

Bacs payments take 3 working days to hit the receiving account, can you ask them to confirm the account number and sort code they have sent it to? If its correct then t be or bank will need to put a trace on the payment to see where it is. If they sent it by faster payment then ask for the faster payment reference number and your bank should be able to trace it if it's gone to correct details. What type of acc was going to? Sometimes payments are blocked on accs like ISA accs when the max subscription for the tax year had been reached. If you need any more help let me know as this is my job, I work in queries and complaints for a bank xx

The company will need to contact their bank to do a payment trace

The first thing to get them to do is check the account details they paid

thankfully it's been sorted, although it was showing as have been paid on their system, when they dug deeper it hadn't actually gone through
