Guarantor details?

DP has agreed to be guarantor for his friends son (without asking me). They've asked for loads of information that I feel they don't need including our bank details. I'm really peed off that he's given our bank details to a random letting agency. Is this normal for a guarantor? My dad was guarantor on all the properties we rented & he never had to give his bank details.

The letting agent will need to know that your dh has the financial means to pay the rent if the tenant doesnot/cannot. Therefore they will require a bank reference/and or/ income/asset details. If they don't have that the guarantee could be worthless. I would be very if my dh did that without telling me.
