Housing benefit

We have been on housing benefit for the last 7 years now.

DH has now got a full time job - he starts on 3rd January.

We would've had our next housing benefit payment on the 8th January.

Currently when DH got paid from his old job, we haven't spent any of it at all. Which around Christmas has been quite easy as we haven't been out anywhere!

But then I wondered.. those 3 weeks that we're still entitled to housing benefit.. will we still get that?

Housing benefit is calculated weekly, so you'll get paid for each week that you qualify. Congratulations on the new job Smile

Were you/your husband claiming income based JSA, ESA or IS before the new job? If so you should get an extended payment of HB - 4 extra weeks at the same rate.

Also housing benefit is paid in arrears so you should get it by my thinking.

Congratulations on the job btw.
