Hello. I ordered an item on John Lewis website. A few days later I got in touch to chase it up. They then tell me that it is out of stock!! I tell them to cancel the order. They refund me but a few days later I find the parcel in the porch!! No one signed for it. I then get a Email saying item has been delivered and if I want to return it it’s up to me to return it I can keep and be charged. Would you send it back or keep? I’m a bit worried the courts could get involved?

If you still want the item then pay for it. If you don't its up to them to arrange return costs. Just ask them to send a postage label.

Whitney168 · 19/12/2017 15:44

But you are saying that if you keep it, you will be charged? Why would the courts get involved?

Either way, you currently haven't paid for it, and it's not even as if you think they have forgotten about it, you know they want the money or the item. Why have the stress of it, just return it or pay for it!

WillowWept · 19/12/2017 15:46

Are you saying you're going to keep it without paying for it?

catkind · 19/12/2017 15:53

So it's basically unsolicited goods at this point. You cancelled the purchase contract and they agreed to the cancellation. Refund is evidence of that.

Do you still want it or not? I think you have to make it available for collection, but you don't have to go out of your way to take it back to them. Though if it's convenient to drop it back that may be easier than making it available for collection.

I'd give their customer services a call, I'm sure they'll sort it out for you.

Either return it or pay for it and keep it surely Confused

Danny1080 · 19/12/2017 19:41

No one in my house signed for it. They just left it in the porch. I was thinking of holding onto it for a while. I’m going away for a holiday and I haven’t got time to post back to them. Maybe they will forget about it? And I can keep it. Terrible service from John Lewis either way. Good averts though

So you want to keep it without paying Hmm

Redglitter · 19/12/2017 19:45

They're hardly going to forget about it if they've already emailed you. If you don't return it they're going to quite rightly charge you for it. Phone customer services and ask them to arrange a collection. It's not difficult

Situp · 19/12/2017 19:47

Is your question should you steal the item?

youngnomore · 19/12/2017 19:54

Op are you on here to ask permission for you to keep an item without paying for it ? Grin that’s naughty. Santa may not visit you this year Xmas Wink

Emmageddon · 19/12/2017 20:28

Just pay for it or return it. I'm not sure what your dilemma is. They know you have it, regardless of whether or not anyone signed for it.
