I have had loads of those cold calls over the years and just blocked them.
It occurred to me that actually I paid these insurances years ago as it almost guaranteed getting the card accepted. I had store cards for everywhere 20 ish years ago.
Is it worth doing this? Any experience of doing it, I have no paperwork etc. I just wondered if one of the companies are worth contacting or will they never leave me alone!
I could certainly do with some extra cash at the moment as I'm waiting on an inheritance and it is taking forever.
Thanks.

You don’t really need to go through a colony and they will take a fairly massive portion of it. Write to the companies you had them with and give them as much account information as your remember. They should take it from there.

Thanks for your reply. I just wondered if these companies have access to a big database of who I may have paid. I was a store card queen!

Have a look at Money Saving Expert
There have been other threads about this and you fill in a simple on line form
Mine came back in 5 days ( and 2 of those were a weekend) and I had almost £4000 deposited into my bank account

Definitely use Moneysavingexpert. There are template letters and step by step instructions. DH got about 700 pounds back because he had a policy added to his credit card which he would have been unable to claim on as he was self employed.

The companies contacting you will take a big chunk and can also settle for a reduced amount to get things done quickly as they are doing thousands of cases at once and just want cash.

I've claimed all of my PPI's and Plevin's back and like you I had lots of different accounts, all of them were going back years. As I couldn't remember them all I simply looked at my credit report and gathered the information from there. You should see all your credit cards, store cards, loan accounts and bank accounts there.

Resolver is the website you want, it’s run off money saving expert. It’s brilliant, you just do an online form using drop down boxes. It’s brilliant.
I got nothing dh for £3000!

Any advice if you have no paperwork and the company have got rid of it (longer than 7 years ago?)

DH had a car loan with Ford credit. I can prove we had the loan with old bank statements but can't prove he had PPI ( pretty sure he did).

A later loan with Ford credit repaid the PPI as they still had a copy of the loan agreement.
