Hi everyone

We have currently gone through the mortgage process on our first home no chain direct sale from Landlord and have an estimated completion time of the end of Jan/beginning of Feb, everything is with solicitors now

Heres where i need abit of advice
I am currently working 2 jobs Job 1 is waking nights and Job 2 is in a school while trying to spend real time with 2 DDs age 3 years ( who does go to nursery x3 days a week) and 9 months
My DP is fortunate to be able to work from home ( but this cannot last forever) so does alot of childcare during the
Day which is effecting his job

I am reaching complete burn out as is my poor DP to the point i am starting to shut down and quite frankly the night job has to go

If i handed my notice in beginning of jan with an finish date of 2nd week of feb would it set our house purchase back?

We have worked our socks off for 7 years for this and would appreciate any advice

Thank you

Don't change anything until the mortgage is completed. Then hand in your notice straight away.

I did waking nights and had a day job, it was an absolute killer and I feel for you but it could affect your mortgage affordability if you stop now.

Presumably you can afford the mortgage repayments without the night job ? As others have said wait until it has all gone through. I do a night and day job and I agree it's very difficult, however the night job brings in a lot more money with enhancements so hard to give up.

Do NOT quit your job until the purchase has completed

Thank you everyone for your advice its much appreciated

Babyroobs Thankfully the amount we will pay in mortgage repayments is considerably less that the rent we pay now so i will be better off so i will be able to take the hit in pay
Unfortunately i dont get any night enhancements everyone is on a flat rate

Thanks again everyone for your replies ill ride it out the time will hopefully fly by

I don’t think it’s necessary to stay in the night job.

If your day job is permanent and salary high enough to secure the mortgage anyway, then you don’t need to carry on with the night job. But you’d need to inform the lender of the change in your circumstances.

Just hang tight till you're in your new home. Or go sick.
