Help from council to leave awful relationship?

Evening all - just wondering if anyone can give me any advice! I'm in a really awful relationship and trying so hard to get out. I want myself & my 3 year old to be able to move out to get away and try and start life again. I have applied for the council housing list and have been told it will be 8-12 weeks before my application is anywhere near the top of the list to even be looked at (!) And I am having no luck trying to persuade estate agents to help me with any of their rentals. I feel completley trapped and I don't know what else to do. Any tips or Help? I'm sure there's been a few of these posts, but I wouldn't post unless I really needed the help. Thanks in advance mummy's!

Could you go to a women's refuse? That will make your application more of a priority.

Yes, going to a refuge will help greatly in terms of housing applications.

If you don’t think the situation is bad enough to warrant going to a refuge then speak to Women’s Aid anyway. They will be able to give you advice.

Good luck.

Dsis left her abusive ex and went in a refuge until the council found her a house. He wasn't violent but EA.

A local domestic violence service may be able to help. Or contact Women’s Aid who can point you in the right direction to get help or go through what your options are - and there may be more than you think.
