child tax credit - for grandparents - they look after DD - would they qualify ? or would the child need to stay overnight for grandparents to be qualified for Child tax credit?

They can’t get it unless they are “responsible” for the child, ie the child lives with them.

Do you mean the grandparents provide the childcare? Or the grandparents have parental responsibility!

anyoldname76 · 04/11/2017 15:00

if they are just providing childcare and not actually living with them , then no

gillybeanz · 04/11/2017 15:03

If they are caring for the child during your working hours and are ofsted registered and you are paying them for childcare then yes they can claim.
Otherwise unless they have PR then no they can't claim themselves.

They could qualify for national insurance credits which might help with their pension though
