Does Paypal protect me if I buy something on Facebook marketplace

I would like to buy something from Facebay (Facebook marketplace) and the seller lives far away from me. She said that she is happy to post the item to me.

If I pay with PayPal, am I protected if the item doesn't arrive?

(I usually buy on eBay or sites that have buyer protection, but have never bought from Facebook before)

Yes it does as long as you pay via goods or services. I have paid this way before and the item didn't arrive; i was able to claim back. Don't pay through family and friends as you are jot protected that way.
