Direct debt and payment on same day

Hi, does anyone know if I have a direct debt coming out on the same day a payment comes in, do I need to have the money in my account before the payment or will it come out of it.
I hope that makes sense.

Depends what Bank you Bank with but usually they have a pay no pay system. So as long as you have money in before the cutoff time which is usually 3pm the direct debit payment would be honoured. Always best to check with the Bank tho. Hope this helps.

I'm with Lloyds Bank. I have 3 direct debits that go out just after midnight on the 1st of the month. Money gets paid into the account by about 3am. It takes me overdrawn for max 3 hours most months. Never had a problem with it nor been charged.
