Universal credit question

Posted this in chat but no response, hoping this might be a more appropriate place!

Does anyone know much about UC?

We're a family of 3 on a single income, and get some Universal Credit which takes into account my salary (my partner is a sahp).

If we were to have a second DC, does anyone know whether UC payments would increase while I was on SMP? We're not TTC but are thinking about it in the next year.

I realise in that time many things could change, but just looking at all the potential outcomes!

Hi
To get an indication try using a benefit calculator. entitledto.co.uk has one. Put in your details as if you have a new child or are pregnant.
As you say it really is an indication because benefits (and your own circumstances such as wages) might change.

Thanks Singa, I've used a calculator (the same one that made me realise we were entitled to help now) and have put in the amount I'd get on SMP, and it does suggest the amount we'd be entitled to would be higher. I guess I wasn't sure if that was really true, given that I normally earn a full time salary (so it's not our usual state of affairs). I guess it's all a bit chicken and egg until we're actually in that situation though (and hopefully our work situation will have changed by then anyway). Thanks!
