Flight refunds

suneagle · 22/08/2017 11:46

I have booked three sets of flights which I will no longer be taking (due to relationship breakdown)

New York on October
Rome in November
Tenerife in January

Is there anyway to recover the costs? What is the best course of action?

Which airline is it?

suneagle · 22/08/2017 11:56

New York is Austrian Airlines

Rome is airbaltic

Tenerife is Ryanair

Do you have travel insurance through your bank?

Optimist1 · 22/08/2017 12:22

I've never known travel insurance cover relationship breakdown, MissBax !

You need to look at the rules relating to the fares that you've booked, suneagle - if no changes or refunds are permitted you'd only be able to request a refund of the airport taxes; if no refunds are permitted but changes can be made at a fee then you may want to make a name change to take a friend instead; if you paid a fully flexible fare then you'd be able to get a refund when you cancel.

I can tell you now that Ryanair will not refund flights unless you cannot travel because a close relative has died.

All of the airlines should refund the Air Passenger Duty as well as all other government taxes.

Thank you

I will try to see what I can recover

Point about tax is a good one

Thank you all

Also find out how much it costs to change names. You may be able to sell them on.
Sorry about your relationship.

Or just change one name, take a mate and have a ball.
