Overpayment on WTC and CTC - anyone else?

I've just checked on line before I do my weekly shop when I noticed that I have more money in my account.

I had my normal WTC and CTC paid on Tuesday (I get it weekly), then today I have just discovered they have put 2 further payments in. 1st payment just says WTC and the 2nd payment says WTC and CTC. So basically this week I have been given 3 payments.

Has anyone else?

I will ring them tomorrow to make sure it's correct but surely I should have some paperwork to say why?

Whatever you do don't spend it, took me years to repay an overpayment they made by their own mistake (although they wouldn't admit it)

It's most odd, I have had the odd £10 or so every now and then but this is actually more than I normally get a week. So (including my normal payment) I have received just over double my normal rate.

Def not going to touch it until I know what's what!

Can you check on line? I had a extra payment last week and it was what they owed me

owthathurts · 17/08/2017 21:39

No idea how to check on line through WTC. i only found out when I checked my internet payment.

Don't mean to be nosy, but was your's a significant difference?

Have you made any recent changes ?
I changed my income recently as they'd recorded it incorrectly. It triggered a one off extra payment and then a reduction in payments until April. This is quite common and if you ring them they'll take you through it (if you can get past annoying computerised woman) !

adviceadviceasvice · 17/08/2017 21:43

My extra payment was slightly less than my usual payment. Ring them tomorrow and they will talk you through it

I changed my hours from 27 to 30 last September. Which I informed them and it showed in my statement they sent earlier in the year. Nothing else has changed since then.

I had an overpayment in error as well - hopefully making last pyt shortly but its been a right royal pain especially as I notified them immediately and they refused to allow me to repay it there and then

owthathurts · 17/08/2017 21:47

Will def ring them, I do worry as I've read many stories that people have been paid wrongly or they have been caught out claiming when they shouldn't have.

I put the dreaded phone call off all morning - just made it and BONUS!! They have told me that it is money that I am entitled to as they have just completed my 2016/17 credit award.

I did ask the woman to make sure it wasn't an error. Yay!
