How many of you used a broker?

Who would you recommend?

I will be trying to get a small mortgage (and a large deposit) but am not sure where to begin

I use a whole market broker and it's well worth it.

Where are you based?

I used an independent broker and recommend using one, took the hassle out of everything for me. Well worth the £350 fee

Yes definitely, best money I ever spent

I've always sorted out mortgages myself but a few years ago the lending rules changed dramatically.
When we tried to move house, our then lender, said, according to their current criteria, they actually couldn't lend us a penny more than we owed at that point, even though we'd paid off loads of the mortgage.
We used Countrywide Mortgage Services through our local estate agent. Although we had to pay the broker a fee, he got its a really good mortgage, when lots of people said we were screwed. Some lenders won't really talk to you these days.
