Cancelled online grocery order, think they might have still charged me.......

I placed an order with asda.com for a delivery on tuesday, but had to cancel it on monday night as I forgot DS2 had an hosp appt. I rang them up to cancel, as it was after 5pm, was told that was fine, the fella would ring the store just to make sure.

I have just checked my bank and there is an amount waiting to come out which is more or less what the shopping was, I think. Now, I placed another order today, for delivery on friday evening, but that wont be ready to come out yet, will it?

Is it likely asda have processed the order? Has this happened to anyone else? I'm panicking a bit because it's a lot of money to go AWOL!

They can only take the money out once the order has been picked and gone through the till so they know what the correct total is. And if they'd done that then the order couldn't be cancelled and would have been delivered.

Can you ring them and ask whether they've processed it or not?

just phone them.

Be right back!

Right. Spoke to a woman who said that asda "freeze" the amount of the order, in case of non-payment after delivery, but that tomorrow it should be "back in" the account. I have never heard of this before, but have never cancelled an order before, so it might be what happens.

She gave me a number to ring if it's not released tomorrow. She was very helpful, but it seems a bit odd to me.
