Insuring a category D car

It looks like my car will be written off.

If category D im considering buying it back.

However if I do will the insurance costs be prohibitive?

Shouldn't be, although it will have very little resale value even though damage may be minimal. Ask your current insurers for a price.

Thanks Special.

Resale value would only have been around £300 anyway. Plan was to keep the car until needs scrapping.

Insurers weren't able to tell me if it would change price :S

It's fine. Mine is a CAT D and insurance has been completely reasonable.

We did it and the insurance didn't alter at all , stayed with the same company throughout .

I've insured a cat d before and the insurance hasn't been any different. Insurers have never asked or mentioned about the cat d status.

Thanks all.
