Can you just stop claiming IS?

Looking to start on my own but won't be earning a living wage of £7 plus an hour and I've looked on line to qualify for working tax credits it needs to be more than a hobby.
I have a very small child but have worked out I can manage on just child tax alone plus anything I make. Can I do this? What advice does anyone have? Xx

Ring income support and ask, I came off it to start a cleanin job which was a waste of time as they didn't pay me. I then thought to myself that I didn't want to go back onto benefits so I tried to work for myself, that didn't work out either which I got pretty desperate then had to start a new claim, indidnt claim working tax as I could only 15hours xx

You can stop a claim, if you want to. But remember that Income Support pays your NI credits and Child Tax Credit doesn't.
