Avios points

We have been offered 4000 avios points as a good will gesture for a complaint - I have never used them! Can someone explain what that will get us? Enough to pay for something nice or a sandwich on the flight?! Thanks

Not much is the answer. I've no idea about food as I refuse to pay BA for food and a drink that used to be included in the ticket price.

9,000 Avios is the minimum you will need to fly anywhere.it would get you a return flight in zone 1. That would be say Paris or Prague.
You could possibly get a case if wine for 4,000 Avios.

Thanks, good to know! I suspected not much!

4000 is pretty much worthless.
Keep moaning at them and they should up their offer.

My bag was delayed a couple of years ago as BA never put it on the connecting flight, they then continually lied about when I would get it resulting in me wasting the first two days of my holiday waiting about for it.

They offered me 5000 avios and I laughed in their face. Told them the absolute minimum they could do would be to give me enough for 2 return zone 1 flights so DH and I could have a weekend away to make up for the 2 days of our holiday we lost because of them.

It took a bit of persuasion but they agreed, eventually.

It seems that Avios view 4000 as being worth 3 bottles of undistinguished wine:
