Selling rings

DragonNoodleCake · 06/07/2017 21:44

Info please, my friend has been divorced a few years now and decided to sell her rings. Rather than just selling for the platinum value, she wants to get as much as possible for them.
What's the best way of selling now?

Thanks in advance

The unfortunate truth is she will only get a fraction of the original cost so she may be disappointed.

Take them to a few reputable jewellers who purchase jewellery and compare offers.

I sold one - two shops - one was half the price of the other - so worth shopping around

BUT I don't think second hand diamonds have as much value as you'd think - they sell for scrap

What are the rings? If they are decent size/quality of diamond she may do best selling privately on loupetroop or diamond bistro. Does she have appraisals or GIA certs with them?

Certain styles are unfashionable and only value is in the scrap weight.

If it's something fairly classic private sale may be possible. Don't rule out ebay.

If the rings are antique with decent diamonds, I know a dealer I can put her in touch with to sell on her behalf.

I have a diamond sapphire ring with insurance certificate value of £900. I was offered £30 for it..... I've still got the ring !!
