WEDDING SURREY HELP!!

user1499262869 · 05/07/2017 15:00

Hello everyone,

I really need help! I am getting married on the 21st July 2018. Myself and my fiance have found our dream reception venue but we need to find somewhere to get married!

We are not overly keen on a church wedding, so we would love a beautiful building or lovely grounds for our big moment. It DOES NOT have to be registered because we are happy to get legally married on another day. But would love to hold the ceremony somewhere special! It has to be near ish Gatwick Airport! No real price budget but obviously not too expensive! Ceremony only for Saturday is so hard to find!

Thank you !!!!

How many people does it need to hold?

user1499262869 · 05/07/2017 15:09

80 MAX. We reckon less but we are saying 80, thanks! :)

You can't use your reception venue? How far are you prepared to travel from one venue to next?

user1499262869 · 05/07/2017 15:19

Hi Lizs, thank you for your message. We could use the reception venue however it is very small and (being picky) we liked the idea of having the tables set up ready to go and not disturbed. So would love to have somewhere else if we can find anything!

Are there grounds at the venue for an outdoor ceremony? What about nearby parks?

wheresthel1ght · 05/07/2017 15:20

Whereabouts in Surrey?

wheresthel1ght · 05/07/2017 15:21

Ignore that seen Gatwick. Have tm you thought of the sister gardens to Kew - sorry can't think of the name if them

There is a beautiful place bringing east Grinstead... Will Google and see if I can find it

user1499262869 · 05/07/2017 15:22

Hi! Thanks fo rthe messages, yes there are grounds at the reception venue however VERY VERY small and not enough room to really move things around. Also no plan B if it rains!

It has to be near Gatwick, Surrey (Horley area) Happy to have 25 mins max journey :)

Denbies ( Dorking )

MikeUniformMike · 05/07/2017 15:28

Gatwick is in West Sussex.

LIZS · 05/07/2017 15:34

Langshott Manor, Nutfield Priory, Wakehurst Place? Or maybe one of the local private schools if out of termtime like Ardingly or even Royal Alexandra and Albert state boarding school/Gatton Park. You'd probably have to pay as if for full ceremony regardless though. If there are grounds at your reception venue could you hire a marquee?

user1499262869 · 05/07/2017 15:46

Hi Everyone,

Yes sorry West Sussex way but very close to Surrey boarder! Anywhere near there. Have looked at Denbies unfortunately they don't have my date. Yew Lodge looks good I will look there!

Thanks Lizs I will look at the schools great idea!!!

Langshott Manor in Horley. Really pretty and nice gardens.

There is a windmill at Charlwood. They may well do it. It is run by volunteers but maybe worth contacting?

The gardens are Wakehurst Place

Flyingprettycretonnecurtains · 05/07/2017 15:57

What about Christ's Hospital, Horsham? It is a school and has very grand halls.

I personally think you would be far better off doing the wedding and reception in one place. It's going to be very pricy otherwise.

Gatwick airport has a chapel...

LIZS · 05/07/2017 15:58

Gravetye Manor is another pretty hotel a bit further south, or there are plenty of golf clubs in picturesque surroundings.

user1499262869 · 05/07/2017 16:11

thanks everyone, looking into the suggestions above, keep them coming! :)

Doesitgoto11 · 05/07/2017 18:42

Ashdown Park is stunning

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 05/07/2017 19:22

I had my reception at Denbies! Great wine.

Manor House School is lovely- you might consider getting married at the tiny church next door, All Saints?

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 05/07/2017 19:23

Effingham Golf Club or Horsley Towers?

Flyingprettycretonnecurtains · 06/07/2017 15:57

There is the most fab ancient house in Smallfield on the way to Horne. I know they do events there. Will try and get the name tomorrow. It is really beautiful.
