I have just been informed by the JC that we will have to apply for Universal Credit next March.
I mentioned that I had a heard a lot about claimants who were left in the lurch during their application, sometimes being left for over a month with no UC payment - and having no payments from their old benefits as they stopped... These people are ending up behind on their rent etc.
The advisor replied with: "I am not sure where you have heard these stories from, but not one person has ever suffered from the transition onto Univeral Credit. The transition is smooth. You have nothing to worry about, it's never happened."
She was definitely lying to me, wasn't she?
