Had a couple of low offers refused on a house we are buying - spoke to agent who said he could get it for 205 but will go in at 203. He called back and said it was accepted at 203 - I said great, deal done.
Just had memorandum of sale from estate agent with the price of 205.
now agent denying all knowledge of the 203 deal, saying 203 was rejected but 205 was accpted and i was dealing with a female agent! I said it was the guy who I was speaking to all that day though he cant remember as he has so many phone calls...
he says it is just a lack of communication somewhere along the line and owners of the house will only accept 205!
Can afford to pay the extra but feel they are trying it on..
any ideas?

Any news? I suppose if the other party have agreed to 205, they're not going to change to 103, but if the agent has made an error they should be trying to make it up to you.

the manager has just called and spoke to my daughter - she's better at arguing the case than me and i feel so annoyed with them. I know its just a 2 grand difference but its the principal of agreeing to one price then being told it is another price when I finally received my letter from them 2 weeks late - the letters were sent to my old address even though I kept giving them this address.........
so we are waitng for the manager to call back again......

my daughter has just spokenn to the manager and thhey are digging their heels in - she offered to meet them halfway - we pay the extra 1000 and they sort out the other grand and he said they cant do that as they are only making £45 - yes forty five quid - on the sale!!

At the end of the day, it isn't the estate agent's decision what price is acceptable. It's down to the vendors. So even if the agent now accepts that he was wrong, if the vendors are sticking to 205, there's not a lot you can do about it.
