How much did you spend on your wedding? Am I spending enough, at I being tight? Confused

About £11k not including Honeymoon or engagement ring which would be extra £7k.

We had sit down meal, evening cheeseboard and provided all alcohol (beer wine and cider) and soft drinks.

About 4K Exc honeymoon.

Had a registry office do and sit down meal (in local bowling club) for 40 then a DJ and buffet at night for another 25.

That included £200 behind bar (v cheap drinks!) champagne, wine for meal, caterer, £200 for hall, rings, outfits, cars, DJ, buffet, hotel for wedding night, favours and other bits and bobs.

My mum paid for the flowers and my dress )£300 ish from phase eight), and my brother took the photos.

Everyone said it was the best wedding they have ever been to!

Will your guests be generously fed, entertained and watered?

That is all they will care about beyond seeing a happy couple . No one remembers flowers, colour schemes , chair covers, and one white frock looks very like another.

Notreallyhappy · 08/06/2017 15:36

specialsubject I'm so glad you've said that I might show my dil -to be.. she's getting carried away with themes, bows and vintage tat.
They going abroad with 70 guests, champagne & gold colour scheme isn't what she wants...well find your own 10k then.

BarnsligRav · 08/06/2017 15:44

Under 2k for absolutely everything.

Drywhitewine · 10/06/2017 09:20

About £11000. This included all werdding costs.

Church wedding, reception in hotel with canapés welcome drinks and a further £300 behind the bar, three course meal but served our cake for desert with cream - saved us £500, we had a band, dj, chocolate fountain, flowers cost £1000. Rings £350 for his, £450 for mine. We had a rolls Royce. 65 guests in the day and a further 20 at night, we had bacon sausage and egg baps with choc fountain for evening buffet. Paid for bridesmaid outfits and suit hire. I think we did quite well put our budget. However it's up to you what you spend. We scrimped and had a cheap wedding photographer which I do regret. Our rings we still love so glad we didn't go super cheap.

We spent a further 6k on our honeymoon, and my engagement ring was £800.

Drywhitewine · 10/06/2017 09:21

Forgot to say, I got married in 2010.

moutonfou · 10/06/2017 09:44

About £4K but £400 of that was the wedding itself, the remainder of that was getting to/being in Vegas Grin

Algebraic · 10/06/2017 09:47

£14k plus honeymoon but £2k of that was a band which was an extravagance, but really made the night what it was. That's absolutely everything including free bar and rings.

fairiedemon · 10/06/2017 09:51

£1400 all in for us and 13 guests. All got a hefty three course meal and all the drinks they wanted, followed by a stroll the the registry office, 20 min ceremony and then me and my husband went home because I was due our first child 10 days later! Best wedding ever!

fairiedemon · 10/06/2017 09:51

Also mine was last year and included dress, suit, rings etc.

ememem84 · 10/06/2017 09:54

Around £11k. Included invites venue hire, drinks canapés, wine on table, four course dinner (70 a head) for 101 people, dresses (mine and bridesmaids) suits (dh and best men) flowers, photographer (both friends) band, cars and a bus to get everyone there and back, cake, wedding favours and a trip to Italy for a few days afterwards.

We had the best day. Worth every penny. And we figured do it once do it right (for us). It wasn't overly flashy was fairly chilled out. The important thing for us was having the best day with our family and friends.

We could have saved money but that would have meant not inviting people. We both have huge families.

ememem84 · 10/06/2017 09:55

This was in 2011.

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 10/06/2017 09:56

5k.
40 guests 12-5 sit down meal
Amazing day

MrsJamin · 10/06/2017 10:11

5k over 10 years ago. Glad we didn't spend anymore as it just wasn't necessary, guests had a great time. Don't whatever you do be pulled into pinterest style weddings, they are just ridiculous and expensive.

tadpole73 · 11/06/2017 19:36

2004 - about £15k. Had x2 Ford Model Ts, honeymoon to Maldives & Sri Lanka, wedding breakfast & evening buffet, photographer, white gold rings, cake, x3 bridesmaids, wedding favours, flowers, privately hired out a Victorian garden for wedding shots, no hen/stag dos tho. We had a house so paid for the wedding ourselves although both parents contributed towards venue hire/catering. We also asked for cash/vouchers which we used towards honeymoon.
