Wow £200 in less than a week - that's good going chocolate! I haven't joined OM yet but probably will.

I'm on week four and about £570 profit - including a huge arb - backed a horse last night at 7.5. Layed at Betfair today for 4.0!!!

LimitedSedition · 13/05/2017 11:28

I've been gubbed within hours- mistakes being (my theory anyway) I deposited the minimum amount, used skrill and clicked on the link via oddsmonkey

GrimDamnFanjo · 13/05/2017 11:32

I'm in week 5 now and am clearing about £100 a week - so should cross the £500 mark tomorrow.
First gubbing from Boyles.
Tried betting on the golf this week - I havent enjoyed it so don't think i'll do it again.
Did a few bets on the Chester racing so will start doing more horses in the future.

HeyRoly · 13/05/2017 11:39

Can I ask a dumb question?

I've never understood the numbers on Betfair. So the second horse, Jaameh, has £16 available to lay. Does that mean there's only enough money available for a £16 lay stake, or a £16 liability?

Roughly £700 in a month but that did include some lucky slot wins and a very inactive week and a half.

I've not done all the welcome offers decided to chill a bit and try and get a record with the bookies I have and try and open one or two a week.

TessTube · 13/05/2017 12:00

I THINK it's the stake that available Roly

zebrano · 13/05/2017 12:36

Trying my first 'free bonus' type bet today, starting small with Betsafe's deposit 30 get 30 bonus offer. Its on the Sunderland v Swansea game, basically I'm really hoping that its not a draw as then i'll have to complete the wagering. Crossing my fingers!

Also had a nice little reload from WH, bet 10 and get 3x£5 free bets.

Has anybody tried the Bet365 bonus offer? deposit 200 and get a bonus 200? I'd really like to do it before footie season is over but again, I'm apprehensive about the wagering requirements.

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 13:22

In that picture, there is £16 of stake available for you to lay against.

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 13:27

zebrano
DO NOT attempt Bet365 unless you have:
£600 in exchange, for grinding bets at odds of 1.5
£1200 in exchange, for bets at 2
£3609 in exchange, for bets at 4

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 13:29

£3609/£3600

You're right to be apprehensive about the wagering requirements. I doubt any of us newbies are in any position to tackle this at the moment (unless you're able to dump a load of savings into an exchange)

wohmum · 13/05/2017 13:29

so I'm trying my first Acca - the bet victor free £10 bet.... its suprising ly nerve wracking!

I've placed my bet and laid the first one in smarkets following the instructions on the team profit site.

all looks ok apart from the best is unmatched in smarkets - I presume it has to be matched , same as any normal lay bet?

I know the match isn't due to start for 1.5 hours but what if it doesn't get matched in that time ??

Panicking a bit as clearly I don';t understand it enough - I need to really get my head around this, and I am normally very numerate so it shouldn't be too hard ffs !

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 13:31

On the other hand, you could get lucky and lose everything to the exchange in one bet Grin

But we need to be sensible and plan for the opposite - that EVERY bet wins at the bookie and your exchange is drained.

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 13:32

Your bet needs to be matched. Is it English football? If so, you'll be fine this far ahead. If not, keep an eye on it and you may need to make a corrective lay at different odds.

LimitedSedition · 13/05/2017 13:33

I think there's a massive wagering limit on that Zebrano as to where you have to wager £1200- are you on Oddsmonkey?

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 13:34

Not sure why people are panicking about the end of the footie season. Bookies don't expect people to stop betting because their favourite market is dead. Other football, tennis, horses, cricket. These are not unusual sports to bet on that will flag your account.

wohmum · 13/05/2017 13:35

thanks maid - yes, English football . I don't understand why its not matched though , - if i look at this match in oddsmonkey as a standard bet/lay , there is 260 available.

how would
i make a corrective lay?

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 13:42

woh
The lay odds can change very quickly, as can the stake pot. Certainly, the refresh rate on Betfair is too slow to keep up with them sometimes.

You could have been unlucky and clicked at the same time as someone else claiming hundreds of the stake!

Corrective lays can be made using trickybet Here

Plug in your back bet details.
Plug in the current lay odds.
Plug in the stake value/lay odds for your partial match.

It will calculate how to lay for the remaining portion that is unmatched.

If you are going to do this, REMEMBER to cancel the unmatched portion of your lay at the exchange, otherwise it may be matched later in, and you'll end up with too much layed in total

In Betfair, the option to cancel the unmatched portion is in your betslip.

TessTube · 13/05/2017 13:54

Just to emphasise that point that's happened to me twice Maid

zebrano · 13/05/2017 13:57

Ok you're right..I think I'll steer clear of the bet365 one. Only have about 320 in the exchange so a fair way to go! 😊

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 14:00

I am getting tons of WH reloads.

This is the account I am taking care of. I mug bet some of my balance daily. £10 stakes, mixed odds, happier to take bigger QLs than usual.

HeyRoly · 13/05/2017 14:18

I agree WH are good for reloads. Ladbrokes are too.

Anyone else have trouble with Paddy Power? I never get any emails from them and every time I try to log in, it says my account is blocked and I need to change the password. I went on live chat to ask whether your account gets blocked if you enter the wrong password once (which I do a lot) and was told there were no limits on the account - which wasn't the question I asked, but good to know I'm not gubbed! I can't be bothered to keep logging in if I need to reset the password every time, though Confused

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 14:48

I made a new post in the technical thread to discuss how to correct unmatched/partially-matched lays.

MaidOfStars · 13/05/2017 15:08

And one about rollover bonuses.

domesticgoddesshaha · 13/05/2017 17:23

I lost £20 today by accidentally betting on a race that was about to start (I thought I had loads of time but turns out my kitchen clock is 20mins slow) and then didn't have time to lay it before the exchange closed betting.
Bloody frustrating. Ah well, live and learn.
Think I'm going to do WH next. I need to get my second bank account going though.
I'm actually really surprised that HSBC haven't flagged loads of transactions to betting sites over a week when I have never bet before, using a card that is rarely used (daily spending comes off the joint ac) Doesn't fill me with confidence if someone does nick my card!

zebrano · 13/05/2017 18:05

I've got the new customer offer on my Betfair account (bet £10 on sports book, get £30 free bet). However I haven't done anything with it as I'd need to lay it with my smarkets account. Has anyone done it and how did you find an ideal match with similar odds? If it's not on oddsmonkey I'm lost!
